Laureate Education, Inc. (NASDAQ: LAUR) announced on July 29, 2026 a three-year agreement with Google Cloud to deploy artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure across its network of five higher education institutions in Mexico and Peru. The Laureate Education Google Cloud partnership will bring Gemini Enterprise, Gemini for Education, Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace for Education to a network serving about 500,000 students, according to a joint release distributed via GlobeNewswire.

The company’s public statements describe the deal as supporting “AI-powered learning in Latin America,” though the concrete institutional footprint named in the release is limited to Mexico and Peru; no other countries are specified. Laureate did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement in the release or in follow-up coverage.

What the Laureate Education Google Cloud deal covers

Under the agreement, Laureate expects to unify data across hundreds of institutional applications and deploy Gemini Enterprise alongside Google Cloud Platform, Google Workspace for Education, Gemini for Education, and career-readiness programs delivered through Google Cloud Skills Boost. The stated goal is to redesign the classroom experience with more personalized learning for students and added support for faculty, while modernizing back-office operations across the five-institution network.

Eilif Serck-Hanssen, president and CEO of Laureate Education, said the partnership “puts world-class technology in service of our students and in the hands of our faculty.” Milton Larsen, Google Cloud’s managing director for the Latin America public sector, said “technology reaches its full potential when it helps people solve real problems,” according to the joint release.

Neither the release nor independent coverage names the five institutions individually or breaks down the student count by country. Laureate’s stock (NASDAQ: LAUR) moved up on the day of the announcement, according to Investing.com’s report on the deal, though no dollar value was attached to the agreement itself.

The deal follows a broader pattern of universities adopting large AI vendors’ enterprise tools at scale. Stanford University, for instance, rolled out campus-wide access to ChatGPT Edu, Gemini Enterprise and Claude for Education for all faculty, students and staff starting June 30, 2026. Laureate’s move also comes as AI adoption in higher education has reached a tipping point, with survey data showing the large majority of students and faculty already using AI tools in some form.

About Laureate Education

Laureate Education is a Miami-based for-profit higher education company listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker LAUR. The company operates its remaining network of universities in Mexico and Peru after divesting institutions in other countries in recent years to concentrate its portfolio. Laureate has previously positioned its Latin American universities as testbeds for digital learning tools aimed at improving student outcomes and graduate employability. The Google Cloud agreement marks the company’s largest publicly announced AI infrastructure commitment to date, tying its five remaining institutions to a single enterprise AI and cloud stack over the next three years.
