Jupiter Power announced on September 16, 2026, that it closed $1.4 billion in project financing across four separate transactions between April and July 2026, covering ten utility-scale battery energy storage projects with a combined 1,500 MW/3,600 MWh of capacity in Texas and Michigan, the company said in a release. The Jupiter Power battery storage financing brings the Austin-based developer’s cumulative financing raised since its founding to more than $3 billion.
Chief Financial Officer Jesse Campbell said “with strong, steady growth and a deep project pipeline, Jupiter is building one of the most robust energy storage platforms in the country.” The company’s release named nine of the ten projects: Tidwell Prairie I and II, St. Gall II, Tibbits, Grand Basin, Voyager I, Callisto II, Pamela Heights I, Bee Branch and Barton Branch.
How the four Jupiter Power financing deals break down
The largest of the four transactions, a $536 million deal, closed in July 2026 with HSBC Bank USA and SMBC. A $281 million deal closed in June 2026 through placement agents Barclays and HSBC Securities, with AB CarVal and Nuveen as note purchasers; that issuance carried a BBB- rating from Kroll Bond Rating Agency. ING Capital and Societe Generale provided $294 million in May 2026, and Societe Generale and MUFG provided $258 million in April 2026, according to Jupiter Power’s release.
| Transaction | Amount | Lenders / Agents |
|---|---|---|
| April 2026 | $258 million | Societe Generale, MUFG |
| May 2026 | $294 million | ING Capital, Societe Generale |
| June 2026 | $281 million | Barclays, HSBC Securities (placement agents); AB CarVal, Nuveen (note purchasers) |
| July 2026 | $536 million | HSBC Bank USA, SMBC |
| Total | $1.4 billion | Across 4 transactions |
The ten financed projects sit within Jupiter Power’s wider portfolio of 5.6 GW/19.7 GWh of operational, under-construction and contracted battery storage, plus another 23 GW in development across US markets, the company said. That scale places Jupiter Power’s build-out alongside other large storage financings this year, including GridStor’s $220 million close for its White Tank project in Arizona and comes as US energy storage installations reached a record 20.2 GWh in the second quarter of 2026. Storage developers are increasingly financing projects against long-term contracts rather than pure merchant exposure, a structure also central to Eolian’s Ohio battery storage project built for an AI data center hub. Background: Jupiter Power’s growth since 2017
Jupiter Power has developed and owned utility-scale battery storage projects in the United States since 2017. The Austin, Texas-based company has raised more than $3 billion in financing since its founding, including the $1.4 billion closed across the four 2026 transactions detailed above. Its current portfolio spans 5.6 GW/19.7 GWh of projects that are operational, under construction or contracted, with a further 23 GW in development, positioning the company among the larger independent battery storage developers operating in Texas and the broader US grid storage market as demand for dispatchable capacity continues to grow.
