JinkoSolar reported a certified 34.82% efficiency for a perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell on 19 June 2026, just below Longi’s 34.85% record.
Chinese solar cell manufacturer JinkoSolar has reported a power conversion efficiency of 34.82% for a perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell, one of the highest figures recorded for the technology. The company announced the result on 19 June 2026 and said it had been certified by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The figure sits just below the 34.85% world record held by rival Longi, reported in April 2025, as covered by trade outlet pv magazine.
A tandem cell stacks two light-absorbing materials instead of one. A perovskite top layer captures higher-energy light, while the silicon layer beneath it captures the lower-energy red and infrared part of the spectrum. Because the pair uses more of the incoming sunlight than silicon alone, tandem cells can pass the practical ceiling of single-junction silicon, whose best certified cells reach about 27%. JinkoSolar itself set a 27.02% world record for a single-junction TOPCon cell in June 2025.
How JinkoSolar’s perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell improved
The new figure edges up from JinkoSolar’s own earlier results. The company reached 34.76% for the same device configuration in December 2025, so the latest certified value adds 0.06 of a percentage point. JinkoSolar attributed the gain to several changes, including a “dual-layer composite passivation contact structure for N-type TOPCon solar cells” and “multidimensional interface passivation,” and called the result “a critical step forward in the industrialization of next-generation perovskite tandem technology.” The company did not disclose further technical detail, pv magazine reported.
